Review saved subtitle sessions: transcript, audio and SRT export
A Subtitles session doesn’t vanish when the video — or your own talk — ends. The whole thing is saved on your Mac as a time-marked transcript with its translations, which you can read, replay and take with you.
Open a session
Choose Dashboard… from the menu-bar icon and open the Subtitles page. Sessions are listed on the left by their languages — “→ Español, English” — with the source they captioned. Select one to open its timeline. Press Refresh at the top of the list if a session you just finished isn’t there yet.
Read the timeline
Each block is one original sentence, with a time mark, and its translations as plain lines underneath — matched to the sentence they translate, not just to the clock.
- Show pills at the top right choose which languages’ text is visible. Turn Original off to read only the translation; the time marks stay.
- A− and A+ change the text size. Both choices are remembered.
- Occasionally you’ll see a small marker instead of a line: Covered by the translation above when the interpreter merged two sentences into one translation, or Original not transcribed when a translation arrived for words the transcript missed.
Play it back
One transport bar plays the whole page:
- ▶ / ⏸ and a scrubber over the session’s timeline.
- Listen to — choose which audio you hear: Original, or any language whose translated speech was saved. During the live session the translations were silent; here you can finally listen to them.
- Hover a time mark and click to play from that sentence. Every line has its own ▶, which plays just that sentence in its own language.
While audio plays, the current block is highlighted and scrolled into view, and its text lights up word by word.
Copy and export
The ⋯ menu on the transport bar has, for each language:
- Play all — the session from start to finish in that language.
- Copy transcript — the plain text, to your clipboard.
- Export SRT — standard subtitle cues, copied to your clipboard; paste them into a text file and save it with the
.srtextension. For a translation you can choose as spoken (the times the translation was actually produced) or aligned to original (each cue takes the timing of the sentence it translates — usually what you want when laying subtitles over the source video).
What is saved, and how much space it takes
In Settings then Session then Subtitles then Storage:
- Save sessions — the transcript and every translation. On by default. Nothing is uploaded; turning it off takes effect immediately, and existing sessions are kept.
- Save audio (original and translations) — needed for playback on this page. On by default. It takes roughly 2.9 MB per minute of speech per language; silence isn’t stored. With it off you still get the full transcript, with a note that audio wasn’t saved.
Delete a session
Point at a session in the list, press its ×, then press Delete? to confirm. Its audio is deleted with it. This can’t be undone.
